Reinhardt

The son of a wealthy nobleman, Reinhardt grew up around horses on his father's estates around the city of Pellenore. He showed talent for the art of riding, and at age sixteen he won the annual Palline games, held to test the young men of the area in their abilities on horseback. With his victory came a commission in the Drogheda Company of Horse, where he learnt the art of scouting and skirmishing.

By the age of thirty-four, Reinhardt had risen through the ranks to the position of second-in-command of the Arbites Company of Horse and fought at the Battle of the Nuerian Fords. When the commander was struck down by a random bow-shot, Reinhardt took command of the company and led it in a charge against the barbarians that saved the life of General Hartmann, winning himself a reputation in the process.

Reinhardt was promoted to the command of a unit of auxiliary heavy cavalry, raised among the Cheruscii but on the Veracian establishment, and learned to handle them in battle. Later, as part of the Sligo Company of Heavy Horse, he fought at the final defeat of the Veracian army. He joined the Army of the North under Caunen and became his cavalry commander, throwing his depleted force against the flanks of enemy regiments with unerring skill. When the Samnites armies marched to restore the Veracian kingdom, Reinhardt was given command of the cavalry. He died at the age of seventy, thrown from a horse while inspecting his lands.

Reinhardt was a natural horseman and a professional officer, equally skilled in scouting and in pitched battle. Although increasingly troubled by arthritis, he continued to push himself to the limits in order to carry out his duty.
